Everything we do, every time we make a purchase, we are contributing to the world suffocating under its own rubbish.
Let’s look at the window replacement market and a great example Boyland Windows limited are setting.
Boylands, during a normal year used to send a massive amount of waste to landfill, this would include, UPVC, Glass, Aluminium, doors, conservatories.
All dumped and buried in the ground
They have taken the Action to work with Hillier Recycling & their window manufacturer Veka, and are looking to reduce their waste this year by at least 50%.
This would equate to recycling an estimated 48 Tonnes of waste, that’s a whooping 290 cubic metres, that not being buried and recycled into other products and reused.
Veka have invested £10m in a new state-of-the-art recycling facility in Northamptonshire. It is set to process 28,000 tonnes of material per annum, with the vast majority being end-of-life PVCU frames and offcuts.
INCREASED LIFESPAN
PVCU window and doors have an average lifespan of around 30-40 years. Veka closed-loop, pelletised recycling process allows the same product to be recycled up to 10 times; that means a new life expectancy of 350 years from a single window or door.
Boyland Windows believe that recycling should be a priority for all window companies.
